Anonymous asked: Hey John! So I want to be a photographer, I'm still deciding which way I want to take my photography, but I'm thinking of being a concert photographer. So I was wondering if you could hook me up with some of the dirty secrets to it? What kind of lens do you have and how do you get such nice quality in low lighting? I love love love your pictures by the way. I think you have the best job in the world! Thanks!
Concert photography’s sweet, but it’s super tough to get into, and hard to make a living out of it as everyone wants to do it! Start shooting for developing artists, and as they get bigger you’ll be first in mind. Shoot lots and lots and lots and lots of shows and practice, practice, practice. Music photography’s tough as there’s a lot of pressure, and low lights. I use a bunch of lenses, but I reccomend for people starting to just get a 50mm 1.4 - it’ll shoot well in low light, its affordable, and it’s durable!
Thanks for the kind words:)
